The Chakra System
The Chakras are a set of energy vortexes on the body, derived from
ancient Eastern philosophies. The word Chakra itself comes from the
Sanskrit word for wheel. If you were to see a Chakra, as many psychics
can, then it would appear as a constantly rotating wheel of energy.
The major Chakras form a column from the base of the spine straight
up to the top of the head.
The 7 major Chakras are discussed here, and a number of minor
Chakras.
From top to bottom the charkas are as follows:
Crown : The Crown Chakra is Violet in colour and is located at
the crown of the head. It is the centre of spiritual enlightenment
and energy. It is the point where you are connected to your Higher
Self or the Godhead; the place where the spirit enters the body.
When this Chakra is out of balance you may feel a sense of frustration,
no joy for life and experience destructive behaviour. Crystals associated
with this Chakra are Clear Quartz and Amethyst.
3rd Eye : The 3rd Eye Chakra is Indigo in colour and is located
in the centre of your forehead in the third eye region. It is the
centre for psychic ability, higher intuition and spiritual energies.
Through this Chakra you can receive guidance from your higher self.
When this Chakra is out of balance you may feel as if you cannot
assert yourself, fearful of success or overly egotistical. Crystals
associated with this Chakra are Amethyst, Sodalite and Lapis Lazuli.
Throat : The Throat Chakra is Blue in colour and is located in
the V of the collarbone at the lower neck. It is the centre for
communication, sound and expressing creativity through speech, thought
and writing. The throat is where anger is stored and finally let
go. When this Chakra is blocked you feel you are holding back, are
timid, quiet, feel weak, and can't express yourself. When you clear
it you can use it to repeat your affirmations and the power of your
Chakra will help you program them into your sub-conscious. As you
develop your throat Chakra, so you must be careful what you say
because your speech will have the power to affect the universe around
you. Crystals associated with this Chakra are Aquamarine and Azurite.
Heart : The Heart Chakra is Green in colour and is located in
the centre of the chest where your heart is. It is the centre for
love, compassion and spirituality. It directs your ability to love
not only yourself, but others too. When the Heart Chakra is out
of balance, you may feel paranoid, indecisive, sorry for yourself,
unworthy of love and fearful of being hurt. Crystals associated
with this Chakra are Rose Quartz, Kunzite, and Watermelon Tourmaline.
Solar Plexus : The Solar Plexus Chakra is Yellow in colour and
located 2 inches below the breast bone in the centre of the stomach.
This Chakra is the centre of personal power, ego, passions, anger
and impulses. It is also the centre for astral travel, receptivity
to spirit guides, and for psychic development. When this Chakra
is out of balance you may feel a lack of confidence, confusion,
worry about how others perceive you, depression and a lack of control
in your life. Crystals associated with this Chakra include Citrine,
Topaz and Yellow Calcite.
Sacral : This is the belly or sacral Chakra, which is Orange in
colour and located two inches below the navel. This is the centre
for sexuality (particularly in the female), creativity, self-worth
and intuition. When we have a "gut" feeling, it is coming from this
Chakra. It also governs friendliness and emotions. If this Chakra
is blocked then the flow of emotions may also be blocked, causing
a feeling of repression, emotional issues, an obsession with sexual
thoughts, or a lack of energy. Crystals associated with this Chakra
include Carnelian, Agate, Orange Calcite and Tigers Eye.
Root : The root Chakra is Red in colour and located at the base
of the spine. It is our connection with the Earth and provides us
with our ability to be grounded in the physical plane. If this Chakra
is blocked then you may feel fearful, flighty, insecure or frustrated.
Crystals associated with this Chakra are Garnet, Smokey Quartz,
Obsidian and Black Tourmaline. In the male, this is the centre of
sexual energy. A simple meditation to help you ground yourself is
to visualise a root growing out of this Chakra and going deep into
the ground - like the root of a tree - securing you to the earth.
Each Chakra vibrates at a different frequency, from the slowest
at the root to the fastest at the crown. The strength and frequency
of each Chakra varies from person to person depending on their state
of mental, physical and emotional health and personal development.
Chakras can also become blocked, preventing the energy from flowing
correctly. If you are having trouble speaking out then your throat
Chakra may be blocked and you can benefit from cleansing it and
balancing your Chakras.
How to cleanse your Chakras can be very beneficial and will be
covered in a later article. If you want more information in the
meantime then please email me.

Thought For The Month
Youngsters will learn words they will not understand
Children from India will ask:
What is hunger?
Children from Alabama will ask:
What is racial segregation?
Children from Hiroshima will ask:
What is the atomic bomb?
Children at school will ask:
What is war?
You will answer them.
You will tell them:
These words are not used any more,
Like stage coaches, galleys or slavery.
Words no longer meaningful.
That is why they have been removed from dictionaries

Why failure is fantastic
To most people, failure is a disaster - the end of the world and something
to be avoided at all costs. However, it is your perception of failure
that determines whether it is good or bad.
Your rules for failure determine a lot about this perception,
but it is also a mental process that you have to address. It is
the quality of "tenaciousness" or "stubbornness", where we believe
in ourselves and what we are doing so much that we do not quit and
give up at the first hurdle, but keep on going until we achieve.
Failure is good, because if you do not have a success, you have
just learnt another way to not do it! This can be interpreted as
a success! Thomas Edison invented the light bulb as you are probably
aware. What you may not be aware of is that he didn't just wander
into his study one morning and brilliantly write down the design
for a working light bulb.
He tried, and failed. He tried again and failed again. He tried
yet again, and once more failed. He tried to invent the light bulb
over a thousand times and failed. Each time he failed, what do you
think he said?
He certainly didn't say "Damn, failed again" and sulk in a corner
depressed.
He was happy; he had discovered another way NOT to make a light
bulb. Each failure was, to him, one step closer to success and the
working light bulb.
Colonel Sanders of fried chicken fame is another example of failure
being good. He got his first retirement cheque, took a look at how
much it was for and was totally disgusted. Instead of resigning
himself to living on a pittance, he decided that he would sell his
fried chicken recipe. He had been told how great it was by lots
of people, and decided that it would be something a restaurant might
want to buy.
He went to hundreds of restaurants and was turned away at every
single one. Eventually, as I am sure you know, he went on to create
an international chain of shops selling fried chicken using his
recipe.
There are hundreds more examples of this tenaciousness, but it
all boils down to one key point:
Achievers Do Not Quit
If Thomas Edison had given up you would be reading this by candlelight
right now.
When a baby is learning to walk and falls over the first few times
you don't say "Oh well kid, get used to crawling". You tell the
baby to keep on trying, encouraging the child until he or she succeeds.
You know that the baby will walk, no matter how long it takes or
how many times the child falls over or bumps into things.
Consider this when you are trying to do something and it is not
doing as well as you would wish. Give yourself loving encouragement
and support, knowing that you will succeed, and that each failure
brings you one step closer.
Failure is FABULOUS feedback!

Health Tip
This month's tip relates to the spectre that haunts so many of our
lives, diets.
What a horrible word! It's DIE with a 't' on the end. Doesn't
inspire anyone?
This month, here's a few tips to help make this so much easier
for you.
- It is called an EATING PROGRAMME - not the D word.
- You are not aiming to lose weight. When you lose something,
you want to find it again. You are aiming to GET RID of some weight!
- Instead of saying "I can't" say "I choose not to" - this sends
a powerful strengthening message to your subconscious.
- Moderate everything, including moderation
- Do not outright deny yourself food as this creates a craving
- have a little, but not an excessive amount.
- Remember that if you reduce your calorie intake, so your metabolism
slows down to compensate for a "famine" time.
- Putting mustard on your food can boost your metabolism by up
to 25%!
- If you crave sweet foods, try alternatives such as dates, mangoes
and other sweet fruits.
- Hold a positive mental image of yourself at your ideal size
and shape in your mind at all times - reinforce this ANY time
you have think negatively about your appearance.
