The Power Of The Pendulum
A pendulum is also a useful tool for communicating with
your sub-conscious. A pendulum is a
heavy object on the end of a chain or string.
It will swing or rotate in answer to your questions.
It has been used for centuries for hypnotism, dowsing and various other
tasks.
In the context of this book we will discuss the pendulum
with regard to questioning your sub-conscious and for providing guidance.
It can be used for dowsing and finding lost objects, which will also be
covered briefly here.
You can purchase a pendulum from most new age shops and
suppliers nowadays for a reasonable price or you can make your own.
A pendulum can be anything from a beautifully cut crystal on a silver
chain to a lump of metal on a piece of string.
You can make your own or buy one ready made; the choice is yours.
If you are purchasing a pendulum, try it a few times before
you buy it to make sure it feels right for you and works okay.
You may find you have a better affinity with certain materials
than others. My personal
pendulum of choice is a piece of carved quartz crystal, which gives
me very accurate answers. Choose
whatever feels best for you or make your own.
Experiment with a few until you find what works
best for you. Typically
a pendulum is a heavy object on a chain or cord of about 8-12 inches
in length.
Once you have selected your pendulum you need to learn what
response has what meaning. Again
this is the result of experimentation. First
hold the pendulum by the end of its chain in whichever hand you feel most
comfortable with. Usually this would
be your right hand if you are right handed and your left hand if you are left
handed, though this may differ for you.
With your other hand, steady the pendulum’s weight until
it has stopped moving. Keep your
grip on its chain loose and your arm relaxed.
Now ask a question with a definite yes answer.
For example ask, “Is the sky blue?” or “Is the sun yellow?” or
any question where the answer is yes. Watch
which way the pendulum swings.
Next ask another question, though this time ensure it is
one with a no answer. For example,
“Is the sky green polka dotted?”. Observe
which way the pendulum swings.
Ask another question with a definite a yes answer and then
another with a definite no answer. Each
time, watch which way the pendulum swings. Repeat
this once more.
Now you know which way your pendulum swings for a yes
answer and for a no answer. This
will be the same most of the time you use it, though you can start each pendulum
session with a quick and simple yes/no answer session to ensure they have no
changed.
Often as well the strength of the swing will indicate
whether it is a strong yes or no answer. If
your pendulum weakly swings in one direction then it is a weak yes or no.
If it swings strong in a direction then it is a strong yes or no.
Sometimes too the pendulum will sit in the one position and wobble or
move from side to side, giving no definite answer.
This can indicate a maybe answer or a poorly phrased question.
Your intuition will guide you on this.
Try rephrasing the question to get a more definite answer.

A pendulum can only answer yes or no questions.
It is no good for answering more complex questions like should’s and
why’s, other methods of divination should be used for those.
When you use your pendulum it is important that you focus your mind on
the question you are asking. Often
if you are too emotionally involved the pendulum will give you the answer you
want rather than the right answer.
